Field Expedient Chem-Bio Decontamination:
The standard used for decontamination is Chlorine Bleach!
It is used in a 5% if it can be rinsed off within 10 minutes.
Each victim is sprayed down with 5% solution, then clothing
is removed and the casualty is sprayed with water to
remove the 5% solution. The victim is then sprayed/ wiped
down with 0.5% solution, rinsing off after 10 minutes, or
allowed to dry.
Clorox™ is 5.25% hypochlorite solution and can be used
directly on equipment.
A 0.5% solution is commonly used if there is no facility for
rinsing and can be left to dry.
Swimming pool chlorine (calcium hypochlorite) can be mixed to proper concentration in a pinch, too (do the math). Aqua Chem™ granular chlorinizer (65% calcium hypochlorite) is common. Use 50 pounds in 80 gallons of water for a 5% solution or 5 pounds in 80 gallons for a 0.5% solution.
After you use the bleach solution, then you should also use the soap/neutralizer mixture. That's what I'll do...
If bleach is not available, a water/soap solution is considered to be a reasonable option. Miracle II Decon is even more reasonable..
Probably the most important thing in decontamination is quick action! Water from a fire hose or pressurized sprayer is effective. Even scraping it off is better than nothing. Or use another absorbent such as dry detergent, Dutch powder, Fullers Earth, flour, dirt, etc. Application of flour followed by wiping with wet tissue has been effectively used against various agents. Blot it, don't rub it! The idea is to get it off of you in a hurry! That advice also comes from Jane's Chem-Bio Handbook.
Persons with weakened immune systems are usually the first to be victims of biological attacks! For a great immune system boost, use Biomune OSF Plus!, clinically proven to boost Natural Killer cell count and activity, fighting things that antibiotics can't ! If your immune system is strong, you greatly increase your chances of not being infected to start with! A strong immune system is naturally your best and first defense.
My understanding is that at the root of most of these biomonstrosities are mycoplasma (see patent on Weird Science page) and brucellosis. My choice of antibiotic for mycoplasma would be doxycycline and for brucellosis, minocycline. For what it's worth. I'm no doctor and not prescribing anything...(like animal antibiotics)... Consult a competent physician...or vetranarianvegetarian... oh well, I can't spell it.
When they practiced for this type of incident here in the Austin, Texas area, in triage all victims showing symptoms were segregated and not treated. Left to die. That's the plan... and there is logic behind it: treat someone who is likely to die anyway and there will not be enough for the rest (or you!). Prevent this from happening to you. Sanitation is the first step. Prophylaxis your second. Treatment is the last. Don't let it go that far. Probably won't happen anyway (treatment). If you think you've been exposed and there is a lot of it in your area, consult your doctor immediately!

Quick Points about Prophylaxis

Identification
1. Virtually all biological diseases have flu-like symptoms - including the
flu. Therefore, flu-like symptoms are not an accurate indicator.
2. Identifying the exact agent is usually done after the disease is well
established.
3. Control and containment (sanitation) is the most effective way to lessen
the impact of any disease. That is why we have a sanitation manual on our
site.
4. Never assume that only one bio-agent has been used.
5. If an outbreak occurs, the sick will gather at hospitals and other
medical facilities. These areas should be considered a reservoir of disease
(see sanitation). This "concentrating" of the infection includes
ambulances.
Prophylaxis: Prevention of symptoms.
1. Regarding prophylaxis - If you do not have KI03 (Potassium Iodate), and there is a
nuclear
terrorist event (such as an airplane hitting a nuclear power plant) it will
be too late to buy KI03 at any price. KI03 is the one thing anyone can do
(and afford) to prevent radiation poisoning of the thyroid, especially
children. Purchase some as soon as possible. We have three sites where you

Prophylaxis of Bio-Agents
1. If a disease can be treated with antibiotics, it is subject to
prophylaxis with antibiotics.
2. A virus cannot be prophylaxed with an antibiotic - therefore control and
containment will be the life-saver (see sanitation). Example: A pressure
cooker will sterilize objects and water. Fifteen pounds of pressure for 20
minutes will work.
3. Most of the Biological War Engines (weapons) can be prophylaxed with
Doxycycline, Oxytetracycline Tetracycline or Ciprofloxacin.
General Guidelines for Prophylaxis
Adult: Dosing Guidelines are as follows:
1. Doxycycline 200mg to 300 mg per day (divided in two or three equal
doses)(a.k.a. vibramycin)
2. Tetracycline 2,000mg to 3,000mg per day (divided in four equal doses)
3. Oxytetracycline 2,000mg to 3,000mg per day (divided in four equal
doses)
4. Ciprofloxacin 1,000mg to 1,500mg per day (divided in two equal doses)
How long do you have to take it?
That depends on the disease. For instance:
1. If Anthrax is used: 60 days - no less.
2. Plague: 14-30 days or duration of outbreak
3. Tularemia: 14 days or duration of outbreak
What about two Bio-agents at once?
1. If Anthrax and Plague are used (a possibility) then the Anthrax
schedule should be used. (60 days)
2. Do not add two doses together. More is not necessarily better.
How do we know if a biological agent has been used?
1. Medical authorities will tell you.
2. However, they will know because people are sick.
So, who gets sick first???
1. People with "compromised" immune systems. Alcoholics, junkies, people
who have suppressed their system with corticosteroids and people who are HIV
positive.
2. If there is an outbreak of "something" it will hit these
"compromised"
groups first.
3. Will prophylaxis work for these groups? Perhaps and hopefully (unless
they already have symptoms).
4. If these immune suppressed groups discontinue their antibiotics after
the recommended prophylaxis duration, will they then come down with
symptoms? Probably. Perhaps only a few will present symptoms, maybe all.
5. Should they continue prophylaxis longer than recommended? That should
be theirs and their Doctor's decision.
Additional Guidelines:
1. Dosing of children? Clark's Rule is the better guide. (See Bio-charts)
2. Need to study the different medications (see our Rx reference)
3. Will C - silver work? No. However, if you wish to use it...
4. What are the drugs of choice? Doxycycline, Tetracycline,
Oxytetracycline or, Ciprofloxacin
5. See your doctor for a prescription.
6. Can you buy the above without a prescription? No.
7. Finally:
Do I think there will be a nuclear or bio or chemical terrorism attack? No.
But I really didn't believe anyone would do what has already been done.

Prophylaxis for anthrax according to USAMRID:
Vaccine: 0.5 ml@0,2,4wks,6,12,18mo, then annual boosters.
ciprofloxacin:500mg p.o. bid x 4 wks, also 3 doses of vaccine two weeks apart if unvaccinated.
Doxycycline: 100mg. p.o. bid x 4 wks, plus vaccination.
Supportive therapy:
ciprofloxacin: 400mg i.v. q 8-12 hrs
Doxycycline: 200mg, then 100mg i.v. every 12 hrs
Penicillin: 2 million units i.v. q 2 hrs.

Lions and Bears
In Chapter 17 of 1 Samuel, we read of David and the Philistine "Giant"
named Goliath. Goliath was much larger than other people of his day:
"He was over nine feet tall." (1 Samuel 17:4). For forty days he
tormented the Israelites by challenging them to a battle - but no one
would accept his challenge.
David was not a soldier, but his father sent him to the Israelite camp
to deliver bread to his older brothers. When David heard the challenge
by Goliath, he told King Saul: "Your servant will go and fight him." (1
Samuel 17:32).
Even though David had never been in battle, he had witnessed the power
of God in his life. As a young shepherd, David defended the flock when
a lion and a bear had come to carry away his sheep. David rescued the
sheep and killed the lion and the bear. This gave him the necessary
confidence to go into battle against Goliath.
1 Samuel 17:36-37
"Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear - this uncircumcised
Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of
the living God. The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and
the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine."
As we find ourselves battling our own Goliaths, we must also remember
how God has defended us in the past. Our "Giant" circumstances may seem
impossible to resolve - but the God who stood at our side in past
battles is the same God who stands with us today.
God wants to draw us near - He wants to walk with us through each and
every battle. This means we must trust He's working all things together
for good - even when we can't see the good or understand His timing.
Let's be encouraged by God's victories in our past - and let's look for
opportunities to share these victories as an encouragement to others.
As each of us face our Goliaths today, let's remember the past victories
over the lions and bears.
Remember the definition for Faith is living like the Bible is true
even when we don't feel like it is true
the reason we can know it is true is God said
it is true and if God said it is true it is true.
